Smiles are beautiful. They light up a room. It is well established that smiles emanate vibrational frequencies which lift human spirit. Improvement in self-esteem and social acceptance are factors that induce the patient to seek esthetic dental treatment.
Cosmetic dentistry runs in our blood. Dr. Ardalan was an artist before she chose dentistry as a profession. At a very young age, Dr. Ardalan studied art and took on painting oil on canvas as a hobby. Her preferred subject matter is portraits of women with primary focus on linear and angular formations that speak of the inner human emotions. While that topic is a distance away from the art and science of dentistry, understanding intricacies of the eventual role of lines, curves, and shadows and their effect on producing harmonious compositions came to Dr. Ardalan long before she studied dental anatomy and the science of dentistry.
Healthy teeth and gums, in conjunction with their proper formation side by side are the foundations of an aesthetically pleasing smile. Dental aesthetics are primarily guided by the harmonious composition of micro-aesthetics, and macro-aesthetics: the size of the teeth in relation to one another, the curvature and contour of the teeth, their width and length in relation to the lips, their formation side by side, and their shade (or color). Cosmetic dentistry is not an “all or nothing” topic and frankly doesn’t always need to break the bank. Every step in the right direction, enhances the smile.
